negative moulding (2014)
project based on a quest to imitate an industrial technology of casting into sand forms. prior intention was to create quick objects by using just sand and casting material (concrete and polyurethane foam). the process started in the exterior, by digging out and sculpting forms into the sand playgrounds. all of these forms were dug just by hand, so every piece has a strong recognisable unrepeatable structure, what opposes the industrial accuracy. as the object is extracted, the form disappears. later, i set my home workplace up, which consisted of barrels filled with sand. the resulting collection typologically consists of functional stools and containers.
project was awarded at bratislava design week 2014, in category “revelation of the year”.
